San Angelo Gives Big, and So Does Our Market

It’s been a feel-good kind of week here in San Angelo — the kind that reminds you why we love calling this place home. Between giving back, local elections, and a red-hot real estate market, there’s a lot to celebrate and stay in the know about.

Let’s start with the big headline: San Angelo Gives Day.
In just 24 hours, our community raised more than $4 million for 266 local nonprofits. That’s over 10,500 donations! When you think about it, that’s more individual gifts than votes cast in our recent mayoral election. While we’d love to see those voter numbers rise, it’s heartening to see how generous San Angelo truly is. The spirit of giving here is alive and well.

As real estate professionals who work with families, business owners, and community partners every day, we know that generosity like this strengthens the very fabric of our neighborhoods. From children’s services to senior outreach, these donations impact lives — and we’re proud to be part of a community that shows up when it counts.

Meanwhile… in the world of real estate

While the giving was flowing, so were real estate contracts. This past week brought 43 closings and 44 more accepted offers across San Angelo. The market was balanced with plenty of homes under $300K moving — but also a nice surge in higher-end activity. We saw:

• 8 homes sell in the $300,000s

• 6 in the $400,000s

• 4 homes priced over $500K

That’s exactly the kind of diverse activity we love to see — it keeps our market healthy and offers opportunity at every level.

What’s happening with interest rates?

All eyes are on Fed Chair Jerome Powell this week. While no one’s holding their breath for a rate cut just yet, investors are staying hopeful that some relief might come later this summer. In the meantime, the market is steady, and buyers are moving forward with confidence.

Appraisal notices: Don’t ignore your mail

If you own property in Tom Green County, you’ve likely received your appraisal notice. If you believe your home is overvalued, the deadline to file a protest is May 21. You can check your valuation and submit your protest at tomgreencad.com.
